I think the admin team (programmer and what ever) had enough to do with the android version. There comming up lot of little bugs from time to time which they had to fix. When i where an ios user and want to do just liitle codings and stuff and will not buy vcds (because its expensive for only using a little bit) i would be ready to buy obd pro and buy a cheap android device (this will be cheaper then buying vcds) . Following on from Daniel quote, there are also a lot of issue that are now coming out due to VAG upgrading / changing everything so for now I think that if you want to use this tool, buy a cheap android phone off ebay.

Throwing my comment in for iOS version as well. I've been holding back on purchasing it for the lack of iOS support and issues with 2017 VW's on some features due to a change in the system. Don't feel like buying another phone just to use the app or try caristaapp due to lack of features compared to OBDeleven (from what I've read). Anyhow, it would be nice to hear if an iOS version is in the works. There definitely is a demand for it. Thanks.

Was looking into this until I read the android only option. iOS is a much more stable platform to code on anyway, no reason not to do it other than you are lazy or your app/device is doing something that it shouldn't in terms of permissions on the device.

iOS would be nice, but then they wouldn't be able to spy on your coding like android 😂

Way more people have iPhones than androids. This app would take off if it was on iOS.

In EU5, Android accounted for 78.3 percent of smartphone sales in the three months ending April 2017, increasing 2.2 percentage points from a year earlier. iOS posted a 1.1 percentage point gain to reach 19.3 percent of smartphone sales in the region - www.kantarworldpanel.com/global/smartphone-os-market-share/

I am an experienced software developer, and it so happens that I'm looking for a new side project - something fun and meaningful that I can work on outside of my day job.
What are the chances you OBDEleven folks would be willing to share the android source code (securely, with whatever necessary privacy agreements in place, etc) if I volunteered to take a stab at porting it over to iOS, or to a platform-independent framework that could work on any mobile device? Honestly I would be willing to do it for free... just without any kind of guarantees about how long it would take to complete, etc., since I do work a fairly demanding day job.
I'm well aware that there are plenty of reasons why this might not be a realistic option for you, but I figured I would at least make the offer. Feel free to reach out with a direct message, and let's chat!

I'll export the APK file from my phone, and e-mail it to you. This way, you can then sideload it to your device.

There is another option if you use a VPN (and there are lots of free ones) you can be in a different country.

So the lack of response from "higher management" shows that they really dont care for the IOS users who are requesting to have a port. Meaning youre losing an entire market of people who want to purchase your product. smoooth criminal.

Meaning youre losing an entire market of people who want to purchase your product. smoooth criminal. You need to be patient and allow the OBDeleven team to perfect what they are doing in Android first. It could be a case where iOS doesn't support the existing Bluetooth dongle (or method of implementation). I wouldn't want to see the OBDeleven team "drop the ball" by trying to support two different mobile OS and not have a finished product. The same can be said where Ross-Tech chose only to support Windows for obvious reasons

Reading this threat I noticed that the last reply of a mod was pretty much identical with one given on the first page. And this was over a year ago. Meaning that I don’t know if I should keep hoping for an iOS version at all. And if the official recommendation is: Buy an android phone... then I will much rather go the VAC route... caz under the line this will be cheaper for me! Not really a good strategy to alienate half of the potential customer, but well every business has to decide that for themselves;) I would rather put out an version for both systems, even if those were not a 100%. You can update them down the road. This way you would have a wider customer base and who knows may even be able to hire another programmer

Meaning that I don’t know if I should keep hoping for an iOS version at all. I'd recommend that you pause (NOT stop) waiting. It would be better for everyone to ask for the technical reason why there isn't an iOS version, instead of assuming that the OBDeleven development team does not care about the potential iOS customers.

I have also seen on older IOS phones that it is possible to dual boot so you can have both IOS and Android.
I agree with Matthew but would stress as Moderators we are only giving our opinion we are not connected with OBD in any way just trying to help folks get the best out of the app we enjoy.

I’ve been waiting well over a year for an iOS version, but Jens has a point. The lack of response from the developer leads me to believe they will not likely release an iOS version. On the VW forums they answer all the questions except any about iOS version. Complete silence. If they were working on it, I think they would have at least mentioned a “we’re working on it” or “stay tuned”. They’ve launched a new site but no mention of anything. If it were a technical reason then why not come out and just say it. The developers are well aware of the demand for an iOS version. It’s not only being asked here, but also the VW & Audi (and other) forums and their Facebook page.
