Since I don't have an android device, I was wondering if the new chromebooks ( that run android apps ) can be used to run the obdeleven app.
Does anyone have any experience using a chromebook with obdeleven?
Thanks,
Mark

HAVE A LOOK AT support.google.com/chromebook/answer/7021273?hl=enIT SAYS Step 2: Get Android apps Now, you can find and download Android apps on your Chromebook. Your Chromebook won’t automatically download the same Android apps as your phone or tablet, so you’ll need to download them again. Also, some apps don’t work with some Chromebooks, so you won’t be able to download them.
I would try and download first as obd11 say android only

Thanks for the reply. I don't actually have a chromebook yet, so I cannot attempt the download. But I'm willing to buy a chromebook, if obd11 will run on it. (I'm less interested in buying a smaller android device because it might not see much use except for obd11). The newer (i.e. 2017-2018) chromebooks are supposed to be able to run android apps.
The way I read obd11's 'android only' restriction was that it wouldn't run on windows/mac/ios devices. But I was hoping to find some chromebook obd11 experiences (or attempts!) here.
Thanks, Mark

Mark, I just booted up my 2015 Acer Chromebook 15.6" and downloaded the app to give it a shot. I signed in to my OBDeleven account while already signed in on my Galaxy S6 and it worked. I was logged in on both simultaneously. I connected to my car from the Chromebook without issue. I was sitting in the car in my driveway with my laptop within proximity of the WiFi. I've attached a photo for reference. One thing to note is that I only have access to the Play Store on my personal Google account. What I mean by this is that the Play Store function is disabled by the administration of my university that controls my Google account within the organization's network. Just something to keep in mind because the permissions of Google accounts that are a part of organizations can prevent you from using cool features like this. Took me forever to figure this out since my university Google account is my primary user login on the the Chromebook. I understand that you haven't purchased a Chromebook yet so I'll just say that I absolutely love mine. The only bad thing about this device is there is no back-light for the keyboard, however, if you have the screen bright enough at night you can see the keyboard that way. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info. Based on that, I'll go ahead and order the obd11.
I just bought a pixelbook (since they're on sale for %25 off (still pricey though)). And I've installed the odbeleven app w/o any problems.
