sorted it....like an idiot I had it set to LHS steering and RHS traffic instead of the other way around.

Hi, I don't suppose anyone has the procedure on how to replace the J527 / Slip ring? got one coming to match the BCM and MFSW? A link, one pager,,,anything at all? Your advice is greatly appreciated

Finally figured out how to fully disable keyless entry last night (including trunk)
NOTE; your trunk will only unlock by holding the button on your keyfob after this which isn't a bad compromise in my opinion;
Control Units
Access Startsystem Interface (B7)
Change Service > Development Mode
Adaption > DeveloperCoding: Passiv Entry Exit (Byte 2)
Passive Entry Exit > Not activated
(May ask for code: 20103)
Save! Enjoy.

Hi Don, I sourced and replaced the J527 with one compatible with the BCM (they are both used together in another car). The horn still does not work, but I do now get an OPen Short Circuit error as per below:
OBDeleven data log

ODX name: EV_SMLSKLOMQB
ODX version: 020002
Long coding: 0C10
Trouble codes:
B114611 - Signal horn activation Short circuit to ground
static
Date: 2019-03-16 12:34:51
Mileage: 35100 km
Priority: 2
Malfunction frequency counter: 1
Unlearning counter: 109
Operating time: 19767 min
Supply voltage, terminal 30: 15.1 V
Vehicle speed: 0 km/h
Voltage at switch: 5.02 V
System status: 30
Terminal 15 status: active
Any thoughts?
The horn works with the previous BCM, should it be connected to a different PIN on a newer BCM?
Thanks Sam

Actually just sorted the short circuit error, was a cable behind the airbag had gone off. Reconnected, error gone. But still no horn. I'm convinced now it must be a fault in the replacement retrofitted BCM as the previous one can activate the horn. There are little or no adaptations to change relating to the horn, so it must be an underlying fault with the BCM unable to power the sounder.

Hi Don, I sourced and replaced the J527 with one compatible with the BCM (they are both used together in another car). The horn still does not work, but I do now get an OPen Short Circuit error as per below:
^^^^ Sam: this certainly has been an ongoing problem for you - bummer that the retrofitted J527 hasn't worked. Not sure that I can help - I note that the frequency counter for the DTC is one - are you sure that the error didn't occur during installation of the J527 module - does it clear? If this is a permanent DTC - this problem is invariably caused by a physical wiring error (it's not a module programming issue). Not sure that I have any more suggestions, but here is my version of the Wiring Diagram for the horn plate. Notice how the earthing for the plate changes for multi-function buttons - check this on your car I note that the code on your new J527 has changed - perhaps try the original code-string from the car (from your auto-scan on the RT forum = hex0400). Don
EDIT
Sam: I went through my database and I found this from Feb-2014 Wiring Diagrams. Notice the part of my picture that I have circled -it says that the BCM connection for the horn relay is Pin# 24, Socket A.
Not sure if this is an error, but it's certainly different to the usual BCM pin-out on my other Wiring Diagrams - which as you know is pin# 24, Socket B.
Worth a try - if the pin on socket A is actually present on your new BCM, given the efforts that you have made to fix this problem

Hi Don, Many thanks for all your suggestions, much appreciated. The short circuit issue was indeed caused at installation which I have now corrected.
I have a bit of an update. I decided to run some 'live data' tests using ODBELEVEN
I ran 3 'Live Data' tests.
1st on the Steering Column electronics, signal horn....when I press the horn, the status changes to 'activated' (but no sound).
2nd on the BCM Activation of Signal Horn....when I press the horn, the status changes to 'operated' (no sound).
3rd on the Gateway module, Multi function Steering wheel.....under here it monitors a number of buttons including Signal horn....when I press the horn status stays at 'not activated'.
Given I've upgraded the BCM, and the Steering Electronics...J527 but not yet the CAN Gateway, do you think this could be the issue? Not sure of the 'flow of signal' from pressing the horn plate, but if its Gateway last before Horn Relay, this would make sense.
Your thoughts as always, greatly appreciated.
Kind regards Sam

^^^ Sam: As I think that I mentioned before (can't remember where now - we have had so much discussion related to your problem), I don't believe that the CAN Gateway module @ address hex19 actually unpacks the horn signal. Other than directing the CAN communications flow and managing DTCs, I suspect that the Gateway is uninvolved. The fact that your live data tests show that the horn is operating OK (but no sound)-suggests that comms between the modules is OK - again I'm just guessing. Try changing the horn relay to pin#24, Socket A - as per my previous post

Hi all guys, I'll have two small questions, on a "golf 7 phase 1" that has a "BCM Highline" would it be possible to activate the choice of mood colors? Because I added the virtual cockpit and the MIB 2.5 (Discover Pro 3) I would like to have the mood colors on the screen, and second question I tried to activate this, but I do not arrive not to have these icons, I only have icons of heated seats that appears.

Bonjour, merci pour votre aide, non, je ne comprends pas, les seules icônes qui apparaissent à l’écran sont celles des sièges chauffants et des volants, je n’ai pas les autres choix à l’écran.

Hi to everyone! I live in Europe, and I am a happier driver of a MK7 Gti 2013! But after some AFS stoped working, I decided to change them for LED... but the error it is always there... and I don't find how to change that using VCDS!
I've changed the AFS H7 to an LED! and the error appears because of the voltage indications?..
There is a way using VCDS/Vagcom to solve the error?
Some one to help?
Best regards

Hi I have fitted a stop start memory module to the car (which is great and big up to dv52 (Australia) for the details of how to make these) but I have one question is there a long coding bit that enables me to turn off the light on the stop start button like it can on the Mode options. Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance. Ron - well done and many thanks for your generous words!
As for your question - I'm not aware of a coding mechanism for turning-off the LED on the SS button, but if you look at the wiring diagram below, you will see that the LED is driven by pin #7 on the housing of the center console switch. You could try pulling this wire off the pin (and insulating the wire connector). I'm not sure if the BCM (identified as "J519" in my diagram below) will get cranky when the electrical load from this wire is removed and the BCM tries to illuminate the LED- because I don't know if this wire is monitored for equipment failure. But if this happens - simply replace the wire and clear the DTC error message.
If the BCM does protest when the wire is removed, then I guess that you will need to experiment with a by-pass circuit for the electronics within pin#7. I wouldn't think that this is too complex: simply measure the volts and the electrical current flowing in the Black/Green wire in my picture below (with the wire connected to pin #7 and the LED illuminated). Then calculate a resistor value that will achieve the same electrical current and connect the Black/Green wire to the new resistor (other end of the resistor connected to earth). This should trick the BCM into believing that the Black/Green wire is still connected to pin#7 - I hope!!
But, I have a question for you -why do you want to do this? I find the LED illuminating 5 x seconds after ignition switch-on to be quite reassuring. It tells me that my SS switch is behaving correctly and it confirms that SS is switched-off.
Don
edit: hmm.......... I've clearly been recalcitrant and I've correctly been sent to the naughty-corner for my indiscretion - apology to the forum administrators
here's a copy of my original picture from a more "reputable" web-site:

Thanks Don as always. Why is simply my OCD, which is why I turned off the Mode button, In an Ideal world I would actually reverse it so the light only showed when the stop start is on, but also I am always trying to see what all these unmarked bits and bytes do.
UPDATE
Quick favor can you post the link to your picture as they have turned off hotlinks to your main site.
