The English translation is basically what it says on screen. DON'T use ANY of those options. Once your car supports CAN, the most powerful /thorough option is selected by default. OBDeleven is just as good as VCDS and what your dealer would use.
The options listed are:
OBD-Diagnostics: The equivalent of using a CHEAP GENERIC tester to read fault codes. This does NOT give manufacturer specific fault codes (you don't want this option)
.......
VW Diagnostics (as the name says)
The EOL option: I forgot what that was about
EOBD is for European vehicles like ours as it is more advanced than JOBD (Japanese...)
_________________________________________________________
As I said before the option you need is already selected by default, so don't touch those options. If you change it, just disconnect and reconnect and it will revert to the correct one by default.

Nevertheless, I was wondering precisely about the one that your didn't translate, "Utvecklingsläge" that means Developer mode. Is this the most powerful option that is chosen by default, or is the EOBD that is chosen by default?

Developer mode contains nerdy things that aren't applicable to us even as Do-It-Yourself individuals. This isn't selected EOBD doesn't contain information specific to the Volkswagen Automotive Group, so not even this is option is fully selected. The option chosen (but not listed is CAN). This will also include UDS (which you definitely need to monitor and adjust the values as desired).
I don't thing the OBDeleven team should even provide the option of changing it as it would be confusing to other adventurous users.
Note: EOBD can't read the 255 channels per module and export them to a usable format that you can read and manipulate. VW Diagnostics gives you some functionality found in VCDS, but due to your phone /tablet's small screen you won't be able to get a nice GUI to look at (so I suspect that would be something for future development). It would be cool though to be able to log the changing parameters such as boost, engine RPM, MAF and TPS in realtime (although you may run out of storage space on your phone very quickly).

Hello again, I just realized that I need the Change service Developer mode in control unit 5F to be able to activate the Adaptation Developer mode. Doing that I should be unlocking the engineer/green menu in the infotainment (20 sec long press menu bottom, getting to the "next level" after service mode).
The problem is that I get an error when I select Change service. I get the error just in unit 5F. What can be the reason? Maybe I have to enter the right security access code before I can choose change service? 20103 is accepted but doesn't change anything...
BTW I want the engineer/green menu because I think it is needed to activate the parking heater.

^^^ Control module 5F??? What chassis car do you have again? Are you sure that your car has all the required hardware for the "parking heater"? If the coding you are trying to set doesn't go through, it usually means that you don't have the hardware for it (or that particular controller doesn't support it). It may be supported in the 2009 and new models however.
TheSpaniard, just like ROSS-TECH, I can only help you if you post a full coding of your car so that I can see all the hardware you have installed and the current vehicle coding. I don't have a 5F module in my 2008 MK5 Golf, but if you gave me the full coding for your car, I could load it up in VCDS and do some screenshots.
As an example, I'll post my coding in the next thread. I have no issue with my VIN being made public, so you can mask the last 6 digits of yours if you like

Hi Matthew! Of course, I'll post the full coding of my car the first thing tomorrow morning. I have a Sharan 2017, you can see a list of my control modules here in the meanwhile if you have the time (you can see there that I have the module 18 extra heater)... obdeleven.proboards.com/thread/1162/coding-adaptationsI'm sure the first thing I did when I got my OBD11 was a total scan, but it doesn't show up when I look into history, only my backups and changes show up there. I did it too with my other car (golf 2004) and it doesn't show up either... It might be something to add to the next upgrade... Should I make a separate request thread for that? Anyway, thank you very much for helping me out. I've found some threads in different forums speaking about the extra heater. Some of them say that it has to be first activated from the green/engineering menu in the infotainment (module 5F). And then I get stuck because I cannot activate that menu... I've been also sharing backups with other OBD11 member in this forum that has a Sharan 2016 with extra heater, so I also have that to work with. I've not had the time to do that yet though. Once again, thanks and I'll come back with a data log as soon as I do a new scan.

You can do a new SCAN and e-mail the results to yourself using the icon in the upper-right hand corner.
I've noted your 7N thread. I'll await the scan so that I can get the actual part numbers so that I can look in the VCDS labels to show you the options to select.

Thank you very much Matthew, I have sent you an email with my scan. Just tell me if you need more info, adaptation channel backups or anything else.
I can write the info from your screenshots at my 7N thread if it's OK for you, it might be helpful to others.

You can use the screenshots anyway you wish. The coding is from my "1K" chassis, but it may apply to yours as well.

Well... something strange happened, all of a sudden I am able to change service in 5F, which I couldn't do for a couple of days ago. It might be because of the latest app update, or maybe something that happened when I did an Access code search (it took almost 3 hours and didn't result in any new access code apart from the 20103 that I already knew). Being able to change service to developer mode I could afterwards change the adaptation Developer mode to Active, which resulted in a new line Testmode inside Service mode. Wow I said and I started to look after the activation of the extra heater (which I have read in some forum that has to be activated inside the Green/Engineering menu). I haven't found the option to activate the extra heater... BUT... I found something quite groundbreaking I have to say. The option "Valet parking mode" which enables the Car menu! I haven't read about anyone managing to do this in any other Sharan or Alhambra forum. And yes it works. It was quite empty, just showing the remaining distance, but after some easy adaptations in 5F things started to show up! I have just started playing around but I already can change some car settings from there! One problem is that I can't go back to the Car menu once I press any other button like radio or phone. No car icon appeared in the main menu. But it HAS TO BE just a matter of finding which parameter to activate to make that icon appear. So... any suggestions about how to make that car icon appear will be very much appreciated. In one of the choices inside Testmode (HMI-debug -> Features flags) I can see the flag isSDS_DIALOG_CAR_ with value "false" and the other menus/icons I have show value "true". So how to change that flag? Cheers.

I didn't know there was an option to do an access code search in the new version of the application.
In VCDS /VAG_COM, the valet parking feature would just be an adaptation change made in one of the 255 possible channels.
I'm going to do some research in order to answer all your questions shortly.

I found info about code search here voltas-it.helpshift.com/a/obdeleven/?p=android&s=application-usage&f=security-access&l=enYou must have a working code in order to search for new ones. In their screenshot they show three codes for control unit 09 (of course I tried them all, sadly they don't work on my 09). I guess it works brute force trying every possible code alternating each other time with the valid code to keep the unit from locking. I got a couple of stops "something went wrong" message during the process and I just keep wondering if the right code maybe was found and accepted by the unit but OBD11 didn't record the success. Or as I said, maybe I can get into change service now because of OBD11's update a couple of days ago...

Thanks for pointing this out as not even VCDS has this feature. As it relates to your 7N chassis, Ross-Tech has encrypted the label files for your various modules so I can't do the screenshots I promised. I'll have to borrow a 7N chassis to do a screenshot of that car for you. The second post in the thread below explains the need to encrypt the label files understandably. forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?4424113-How-to-read-CLB-files

Oh I hope you put your hands in a 7N soon I'll be waiting anxiously. Thank you in advance! The problem is that we don't seem to have any 7N chassis in Jamaica. We have Golf, Jetta, Passat, Bora. What I'll do is to borrow my friends 2014 Jetta in the hopes that it has same set of modules that may be shared with your 7N (in that genearal era).

Any kind of info for my "black box" modules will be much appreciated. I'm a bit pessimistic about module 09 since it seems to be a redesigned one (access code 31347 is not working).
Any info about module 18 would be great too.
I'll try to make a list with the modules thst doesn't have help text for coding and/or adaptations.

I discovered at least one coding change that would not be accepted in module 02 (Transmission) until I changed service mode to VW diagnostics. Once that was selected, the coding change was accepted. (I was changing the long coding to display the gear # next to D/S in the driver information display.
I have encountered other examples in various modules where a coding change would not be accepted (usually with an "error xx: function not supported"). I wonder if switching to VW Diagnostic mode would allow these changes to be accepted?

Which chassis code are you doing this on? I don't see an option to change the Diagnostic mode in VCDS, so I assume that it switches automatically depending on the module you are accessing. I've always left it at the default with OBDeleven for my 1K MK5 Golf GTI, and never had any issues coding any desired module.

I've always left it at the default with OBDeleven for my 1K MK5 Golf GTI, and never had any issues coding any desired module. NAR GSW 2017, CXBB engine code. I think VCDS does it differently, but I've never used it, so I can't comment further. But in OBDeleven, if you switch services modes for any given module, it doesn't seem to grant you access to different menus or options, but it allows more changes to be "accepted". For example, I was unable to change the long coding in my module 17 (Dashboard) until I discovered that VW Diagnostic Service mode suddenly allowed me to.

I'll look at that for my MK5 GTI later today in OBDeleven. I've never had to change any of the diagnostic modes to accept new coding.
